Day 24 through 38: A Lot of Traveling In Such Little Time (cont.)

Day 35 was the 17th of May. We decided to visit the Iron Lady, the protector of the homeland. The Iron Lady is a statue that was built in Kiev to symbolize victory and the city of hero's. Pictures will do a better job of explaining how neat this monument was/is...Before we reached the Iron Lady, however, we saw some other pretty amazing things. We saw another monument and we walked through Kiev Pechersk Lavra, also called the Kiev Monastery of the Caves. It is a historic Orthodox Christian monastery.

As we walked around, we were eaten alive! There were so many bugs that we could hardly hold still for a picture. It was horrible! The funny/odd thing was that it seemed as if Max and I were the only ones being effected by the bugs. Everyone else seemed fine. They walked around like normal people. Needless to say, I am still recovering from quite a few bug bites and they itch like crazy!
Right next to the Iron Lady, we saw this disk looking thing. We asked someone what it was, but they didn't know.
After we left the Iron Lady monument, we walked back to the metro. We took a few pictures and ate some dinner at a little cafe. We had ham and cheese crapes and a banana milkshake. So good. We love banana milkshakes.
When we got home, we went right to bed. It was pretty late and we had a long day full of adventures. I love my life right now. If anyone ever gets the chance to live in a foreign country and there is nothing holding you back, do it. Take advantage of the opportunity. See the world!
